Benwell

There are four sites in High Cross, which are being developed as part of the renewal works happening in the area funded by Bridging NewcastleGateshead. 

During the Gill Street and the Courts week of action which was held the week of 17th August, the team from the Boardroom based at Mill Lane youth centre ran some sessions for young people at Farndale Park. 

A charter is a commitment by the providers of services in the area to tell what they intend to do.  The residents on their part have responsibilities to work with the service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for everyone. 

A week of action was held in the North Benwell terraces during the week of 20th April 2009, with the aim of service providers to engage with residents and learn from each other, and better understand each others roles and responsibilities. 

An update from the High Cross week of action, following the resident consultation which took place during the week, we are now in the process of working with service providers and the residents association to produce a community safety charter.  This will be launched later this year so watch this space! 

Newcastle City Council is making it easier for you to recycle.  The black box scheme is being replaced with a new blue recycling wheelie bin which is four times the size. 

Benwell Neighbourhood Management Initiative along with the help of local residents and agencies held Environ- Tipping- Mental week, which started Tuesday 27th May. 

WE DID IT!  Local businesses and organisations have raised an amazing £320,000 to give Farndale Park a face lift.
